How is hemp fiber made?

Hemp is a natural fiber that grows in the tall stocks of cannabis plants. The fiber is separated from the bark through a process called "retting" similar to how linen fiber is separated from a flax stalk.

These fibers are then spun together to create yarn. In our case, the fibers are blended with cotton to add a softness and fluff. Hemp is unique because of its long staple length that creates a strong, smooth yarn. It also requires around 50% less water than conventional cotton to grow and little to no pesticides.
